Around 40 tankers transited the southern deep-water channel of the Strait of Hormuz in both directions overnight into Saturday.
Axar.az reports that Axios correspondent Barak Ravid wrote on his X account that around 40 tankers transited through the southern deep-water channel in and out of the Strait of Hormuz on Friday night.
The officials said approximately 16 million barrels of oil moved out of the strait through the southern channel that night.
In recent weeks, US officials had said that around 15–20 tankers were making the passage each night. The latest figure represents a significant increase.
