Social media is not doing enough to combat the spread of misinformation about coronaviruses and vaccines.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from retired US Vice Admiral Vivek Marty in an interview with CNN.

"We continue to see disinformation flourishing on the Internet. And we know that it threatens people's health and even harms their lives. Social platforms need to understand that they play a key role in increasing the speed and scale of disinformation," Marty said.

During a meeting with reporters at the White House, US President Joe Biden said that social networks spread misinformation about the coronavirus and vaccines. The Facebook administration said that the statements of the American leader contradicted the truth.
