Canada to sanction 9 Russian, 9 Belarusian nationals

Canada will impose sanctions on nine more Russian nationals and nine Belarusian nationals over the situation in Ukraine, according to a statement released by the Canadian Foreign Ministry on Monday.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media.

"The upcoming measures will impose restrictions on nine Russian and nine Belarusian individuals for having facilitated and enabled violations of Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence," the statement said. "These individuals are close associates of the Russian and Belarusian regimes."

The statement doesn’t say exactly when the sanctions will take effect.
