The US Air Force currently has more than 540 F-35 fighters. However, only 53.1% of them are suitable for combat missions.

Axar.az reports citing Bloomberg that Air Force General Michael Schmidt also confirmed the fact:

"I think this is simply unacceptable. My top priority is to be as prepared as possible. During the year, we should increase the training level of fighters by at least 10%."

According to the reports, more than half of the F-35 fighters are ready for training and combat. But less than 30% of them can perform all the tasks.
