Iran's embassy in Saudi Arabia was opened after 7 years

The Iranian Embassy in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, resumed its activities after 7 years.

Axar.az reports that Iranian state television broadcasted information about this.

It was reported that Ali Reza Bigdali, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, attended the opening ceremony of the embassy.

It should be noted that after the execution of Shia cleric Nimr al-Nimr on January 2, 2016, there was tension in relations between Tehran and Riyadh.

After the statements of Iranian officials against Saudi Arabia, the embassy of this country in Tehran and the consulate in Mashhad were set on fire by protesters.

In response to this, the Saudi authorities announced on January 3, 2016, that they had suspended diplomatic relations with Iran.
