An earthquake with a magnitude of at least 7 is expected in the Sea of Marmara.

Axar.az reports that this was said by Turkish academician and famous geologist Jalal Shangor.

"We think that the earthquake can last for 2 minutes. If the seismic line breaks from Silivri to Chekmece, there is nothing to be afraid of, but if the seismic line extends to the shores of Gebza, it will cause a 7.5-magnitude earthquake," Gelog said.

Another Turkish geologist spoke about the date of the earthquake:

"The big earthquake that will affect Istanbul will not happen before 2045. It would be surprising if the possible Istanbul earthquake happened before 2045."
