In Great Britain, 54 parliamentarians, including members of the ruling party, demanded the government to open direct flights to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Axar.az informs that Turkish media reported on this.
It was reported that an appeal was addressed to British Foreign Minister David Cameron regarding the issue.
In the appeal, it was emphasized that 15,000 Englishmen live in Northern Cyprus, and 300,000 Turkish Cypriots live in Britain:
"Because direct flights from Britain to Northern Cyprus are not allowed, passengers are traveling to Northern Cyprus via Turkiye. This is especially difficult for the elderly and patients."
The letter also pointed out that the British government has not fulfilled its commitment to the Turkish Cypriot people to end the isolation of Northern Cyprus:
"If the UN gives permission to fly to countries it does not officially recognize, such as Taiwan, why not North Cyprus?"
