For the past nine months, thousands of Ukrainian marines have held a small base near the village of Krynki on the banks of the Dnieper River, despite terrible conditions and terrible casualties. It is considered one of the most difficult battles of the war initiated by Russia.

Axar.az reports that "Times" publication wrote about this.

"Perhaps the plan was to use this position as a launching pad to penetrate deeper into Russian-held territory. Hopes of this were dashed in the fall when Western supplies dwindled, but the high command refused to surrender the position, which tied up large numbers of Russian troops. This is not Normandy, this is Dardanelles," the publication said.
