Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan's participation in the Ukrainian peace summit held in Switzerland was met with a sharp reaction from Russia.
Axar.az reports that this step of Armenia was perceived as an open démarche against Russia, and discussions about Yerevan's withdrawal from the CSTO also expanded. Especially after Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the next logical step would be to withdraw from the CSTO, there was a possibility that the process would be concluded by the end of 2024.
However, 80 countries and 4 organizations out of 91 countries and 8 organizations participating in the Ukraine peace summit did not sign the final statement. Armenia is among those who did not sign the statement.
Another information is that Armen Grigoryan did not speak at the summit. According to the information of the Western media, he was given the opportunity to speak, but Grigoryan refused to speak at the last moment.
At the summit, Grigoryan was remembered only for his meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and US President's National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.
I wonder what made Grigoryan refuse to sign the final statement and give a speech?
Some European analysts explain the reason for the withdrawal of the representative of Armenia at the last moment with the increasingly harsh rhetoric from Russia against Yerevan. There is even a claim that the threat of Russian political scientists that Russia may intervene militarily in Armenia is not a coincidence.
It seems that Russia has issued a strict warning to Yerevan about the most dangerous scenario through various channels
