The NATO summit began in Washington

The NATO Summit with the participation of 32 NATO member countries, partner countries and the European Union (EU) has started in Washington, the capital of the USA.

Axar.az reports that the event held on the theme "Ukraine and transatlantic security" is also dedicated to the 75th anniversary of NATO. 75 years ago, 12 countries met in Washington and signed the North Atlantic Treaty.

The summit started with a round table on "Women, peace and security" hosted by the US State Department. On July 9, the Defense Industry Forum will be held with the participation of NATO Secretary General. At the end of the day, there will be an event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of NATO.

The NATO Summit will begin on July 10 with the participation of the heads of state and government of NATO member countries. Parallel to the summit, Washington will host the NATO Public Forum. At the invitation of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, foreign ministers of NATO partner countries, including Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, will participate in the NATO Summit.

On the last day of the summit, a meeting is scheduled with the heads of state and government of NATO member countries, partners of the Indo-Pacific region, and representatives of the European Union. A meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council will also be held on July 11. NATO leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are scheduled to participate in the meeting.
