Azerbaijani boxer Subhan Mammadov has won the European championship in the 50kg weight category in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Axar.az reports, citing the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation, that Mammadov defeated Russia’s Bair Batlayev in the final with a 4-1 decision (30:27, 29:28, 28:29, 30:27, 29:28).

Mammadov won all three rounds in the judges’ scoring and claimed the European title, with Azerbaijan’s national anthem played in Sofia.

Azerbaijan’s Saidjamshid Jafarov also reached the final in the 75kg category after defeating England’s Callum Mayne 4-1 (28:29, 30:27, 30:27, 29:28, 29:28) in the semifinal. He will face Russia’s Ismail Mutsolgov in the final on September 25.

Amin Mammadzadeh (55kg) won a bronze medal, while Muhammad Abdullayev (+90kg) also finished with bronze.

Nabi Iskandarov (70kg) will join Jafarov in the finals on September 25, the final day of the championship.
