Former UFC champion Conor McGregor has announced his intention to run for the office of President of Ireland in the 2025 election.

Axar.az reports that the mixed martial arts fighter shared this on his page on the social media platform X.

"As president, I will have the authority to call and dissolve the lower house of parliament. I have already said that the simple workers of Ireland need answers to all the questions they have for these people who rob them, destroy small businesses, and undermine family values. Charlatans in high positions will be held accountable," McGregor stated.

The former UFC champion also said that Ireland needs an active president from the people and emphasized that he is the only logical choice for 2025.

McGregor's last fight was in the summer of 2021 at "UFC 264" against American Dustin Poirier. The fight ended in the first round with McGregor's leg breaking. He was scheduled to face American fighter Michael Chandler in June 2024 after a three-year break, but the match was canceled due to the Irishman's injury. In mid-August, UFC president Dana White ruled out McGregor appearing in the octagon in 2024.
