Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi threatened to kill elephants in his country in a video address to Germany.

Axar.az informs that this was reported by Bild.

Masisi invited the German authorities to accept a gift of 20,000 elephants in response to their proposal to limit the import of hunting trophies.

He stated that controlled hunting helps manage the growing elephant population and that the sale of hunting trophies brings income to Africans.

After receiving no response from Germany, Masisi emphasized that elephants are at risk of dying due to severe drought, reiterating his proposal:

“If our people are hungry, it is our duty to feed them. I can say openly that they eat elephants too!”
