The U.S. does not plan to fulfill Kyiv's demands to shoot down Russian missiles and drones in Ukraine's airspace due to the risk of a nuclear conflict with Moscow.

Axar.az informs that this was reported by the Politico.

"The U.S. could take the risk of hitting Iranian missiles over Israel, as this would not lead to a nuclear conflict with Iran. However, doing so with Russia carries significant risks," the publication cited a source in the U.S. Senate.

The report also noted that several officials from the Biden administration have made similar statements:

"The U.S. has sufficient air defense systems deployed on ships to assist Israel. However, to shoot down missiles and drones over Ukraine, which is several times larger than Israel, the U.S. would need to send its fighter jets and air defense systems there. Such actions would also pose a risk of direct confrontation with the Russian Armed Forces."
