Burhan Koroglu has been appointed as the Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of Turkiye's embassy in Damascus.

Axar.az reports that this information was provided by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is worth noting that Turkiye's embassy in Damascus ceased its operations on March 26, 2012, following clashes between Assad regime forces and pro-democracy protestors. Embassy staff and their family members also returned to Turkiye as part of this decision.

Meanwhile, Syria’s Consulate General in Istanbul continued its operations.
