Iran-Russia agreement excludes military alliance

The comprehensive strategic partnership agreement to be signed between Iran and Russia is not intended as a military coalition. The document aims to develop all aspects of bilateral relations, including cooperation in the defense sector.

Axar.az reports that this statement was made by Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

“This is a complex and comprehensive agreement. It covers all aspects of bilateral relations, with special emphasis on the economy and trade. The agreement envisions cooperation in the fields of security and defense, but does not aim to create a military alliance,” said the Iranian diplomat.

According to him, the agreement is not directed against third countries and does not limit Iran and Russia in any way.

It should be noted that, according to earlier information from the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian are expected to sign the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement following talks on January 17.
