The UK and the US have not signed the international agreement adopted at Paris's global artificial intelligence summit.
Axar.az reports that the declaration, signed by several countries, including France, China, and India, commits to supporting an open, inclusive, and ethical approach to the development of artificial intelligence.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's office said that the country could not agree with all the articles of the declaration. It noted that it would only support initiatives in the UK's national interest. However, the British government did not specify which parts of the agreement it did not agree with.
Meanwhile, US Vice President James David Vance said during his speech at the summit in Paris that excessive regulation of artificial intelligence could hinder the development of this field. He stressed that the Donald Trump administration would fully appreciate the potential of artificial intelligence and that policies aimed at economic development would be a priority.
The Vice President said that the development of artificial intelligence requires rules that create opportunities for progress, not stifling restrictions. He especially called on European leaders to view this technology not as a threat, but as a new opportunity for development.
