The UN has positively assessed the telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Axar.az reports that Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq said that the conversation was a positive step towards resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

"Given the global importance of the United States and the Russian Federation, the UN welcomes regular contacts and such diplomatic efforts to resolve problems. Of course, this is a positive development," he said.

Recall that earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that a telephone conversation had taken place between the parties.
