In his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Ukraine and a peaceful resolution of the issue.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by the Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov in a statement to journalists about the results of the leaders' conversation.

"The issue of a settlement in Ukraine was discussed. President Trump was in favor of an early cessation of hostilities and a peaceful resolution of the issue," the Kremlin spokesman said.

Putin, in turn, noted the importance of eliminating the root causes of the conflict and agreed with Trump that a long-term settlement can be achieved through peaceful negotiations.

It should be noted that a short while ago, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation.
