A White House court filing clarified that Elon Musk is not an employee or administrator of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and has no formal authority over government decisions.
Axar.az, citing Axios, reports that despite President Trump portraying Musk as a key leader in the initiative to cut the federal workforce, the filing stated that Musk serves only as a Special Government Employee (SGE) and is merely an adviser to the president.
The declaration, signed by Joshua Fisher from the Office of Administration, emphasized that Musk’s role does not grant him decision-making power. The case stems from a lawsuit by the state of New Mexico against Musk and others. The White House has not clarified whether Musk remains a key figure in the DOGE initiative, even as Trump continues to praise his involvement.
