French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that a simple ceasefire in Ukraine will not resolve the conflict, adding that this requires a comprehensive peace that will resolve territorial issues, guarantee security, and create conditions for long-term economic, social and political stability in Ukraine.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron in an interview with La Dépêche.
“Recent history has shown us that when there was only a ceasefire, it was not respected by Russia. Ukraine must be present at all discussions that affect it, and as soon as the security of Europeans is at stake, Europeans must be partners."
"Do I think today that the United States wants to leave NATO? No. Do I think it is desirable for them to leave NATO? No. I believe NATO is more useful today than ever. I believe NATO remains a useful and desirable alliance because it provides interoperability and is key to the security of several European countries. to say that Russia constitutes an existential threat to Europeans given the actions it is undertaking in various areas."
"The ongoing and very substantial rearmament of Russia must lead Europeans to respond independently of what is happening elsewhere and American positions." The goal is "to strengthen not only the armed forces but also the European defense industrial and technological base, with decisions expected to be made as early as March.” the French president said.
Emmanuel Macron, indicates he is ready, "at the right moment in the upcoming negotiation cycle," to take a call from Vladimir Putin if he were to reach out.
"Obviously, I will speak to him again if it is useful to the situation," the President adds.
