Hundreds of U.S. diplomats have signed a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio protesting the dismantling of USAID, warning it undermines U.S. leadership and security while benefiting China and Russia.

Axar.az, citing Reuters, reports that the Trump administration's January 20 aid freeze halted most foreign assistance, jeopardizing humanitarian efforts and endangering diplomats abroad.

Over 700 diplomats signed the letter, which criticizes the administration’s decision to eliminate 92% of USAID’s multi-year contracts, worth $54 billion.

The Supreme Court recently ruled against withholding payments for completed aid work, while USAID contractors have sued the administration over the cuts.
