Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen firmly rejected the U.S. desire to annex Greenland, responding to U.S. President Donald Trump’s repeated claims about the territory.
Axar.az, citing CNN, reports that during her visit to Greenland, Frederiksen emphasized the importance of Arctic defense collaboration between Denmark, Greenland, and the U.S., while asserting that annexation was unacceptable, regardless of security concerns.
Her remarks came after tensions with U.S. officials, including Vice President JD Vance’s criticism of Denmark’s handling of Greenland’s security.
Frederiksen highlighted Denmark’s security commitments, including new Arctic assets, and called for joint efforts to strengthen the region's defense. Greenland’s incoming Prime Minister also supported the need for unity in the face of external pressure.
