Taiwan says US tariffs unreasonable, blaming Trump's policy

Taiwan has criticized the new U.S. tariffs as "unreasonable" and plans to discuss them with Washington.

Axar.az reports that the 32% duty on Taiwanese goods, except semiconductors, is partly attributed to trade imbalances caused by Trump-era tech restrictions on China, which boosted U.S. demand for Taiwanese products.

Taiwan argues its supply chain shift benefits the U.S. economy and security. Meanwhile, TSMC, Taiwan’s key chipmaker, remains silent ahead of its earnings report. The tariffs come just after Chinese military exercises around Taiwan, adding to regional tensions.
