US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has canceled $215 million in grants to foreign countries.

Axar.az reports that the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) published information on the X social network.

Secretary Rubio continues to closely review the State Department's foreign assistance. Today, he canceled 139 ineffective grants worth a total of $215 million," the statement said.

It was noted that we are talking about projects in Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Brazil, Great Britain, Lebanon, Mauritania, Moldova, Tunisia, and Uzbekistan.

It was planned to allocate $2 million to finance the "Promoting Democratic Culture" program in Armenia.

On Monday, the Washington Post newspaper, citing a document obtained by it, wrote that the administration of US President Donald Trump plans to reduce the State Department's budget by almost half. It was emphasized that the White House is proposing to allocate $28.4 billion for the activities of the State Department and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This is $27 billion, or 48%, less than the funding approved by Congress for 2025.
