The US may ask Turkiye not to interfere in the use of Syrian airspace and to remain neutral in the event of a conflict with Iran.
Axar.az reports that the Hurriyet newspaper published information about this, citing sources.
“If the negotiations between the US and Iran fail, this issue will become one of the agenda items of the meeting between the Turkish and US presidents. Erdogan, of course, is against Israel attacking Iran. He considers it dangerous for the region. However, Turkiye may be asked to take a neutral position in this war and not to obstruct the use of Syrian airspace,” the publication wrote.
The newspaper noted that US President Donald Trump may visit Turkiye in May as part of his Middle East tour:
“It is likely that Trump will come to Turkiye after he visits Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. If this does not happen, Erdogan’s visit to the US is scheduled for June.”
