France and Poland will sign a defense and economic agreement. The decision is the latest step the countries have taken to deepen military cooperation amid Russian aggression and uncertainty over US security guarantees.
Axar.az informs that the Financial Times reported this.
It is noted that the document will be signed on May 9 by French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
“The agreement has been in the works for years, but it has taken on new significance after US President Donald Trump began to make insinuations about Russia and threaten to withdraw American guarantees that have been the basis of European security for decades,” the publication emphasized.
Aleksander Olech, a security analyst at the Polish Defense24 think tank, said:
“Tusk is also sending a message to Washington, a country that has been our main ally for many years. This is a clear message that Poland is not only dependent on the US, but can also have other powerful nuclear allies.”
