US President Donald Trump's statement that the main share of victory in World War II belonged to the United States is pathetic nonsense.
Axar.az reports that these words were spoken by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.
"Trump declared some time ago that the United States played a major role in World War II and that he would establish May 8 as a holiday. The holiday is not bad. But this result is pathetic nonsense," Medvedev wrote on the VKontakte social network.
"Who took Berlin, who crushed the enemy for more than four years, who liberated ungrateful Europe? Our people sacrificed the lives of 27 million sons and daughters for the sake of destroying damned fascism. Victory Day is our holiday, and it is May 9! As it was, it will remain so," he added.
Recall that Trump declared November 11 and May 8 as days of victory in the First and Second World Wars in the United States. He said that the United States made an incomparably greater contribution to World War II than any other country.
