The main objective of the NATO summit held in The Hague was to keep the United States within the alliance and to maintain military support for Ukraine.

Axar.az reports that this was noted by Bloomberg columnist Max Hastings.

According to him, European leaders were compelled to demonstrate loyalty and shower praise on U.S. President Donald Trump in an effort to avoid his anger and new threats of withdrawing from NATO:

“This was not a summit centered on discussions of global strategies. Rather, it exposed the desperate efforts of European NATO members to increase their defense spending. Such excessive flattery toward a visiting U.S. president had not been seen even during the Cold War.”
