The Syrian issue is extremely important for Ankara.

Axar.az reports that this was said by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He noted that Turkiye has a long border with Syria, as well as deep historical and cultural ties:

"Therefore, any event that occurs in Syria directly affects Turkiye. In recent years, unfortunately, only negative effects have been reflected from Syria to us. During this difficult period, both the Turkish Foreign Ministry and the MIT leadership have been in constant and close contact regarding the situation in Syria," Erdogan added.

The head of state emphasized that Turkiye supports the re-formation of Syria as a single and integral state, as well as the establishment of stability and peace in the country:

"The preservation of Syria's territorial integrity is the main condition for this process."
