We must make Istanbul earthquake-resistant.
Axar.az reports that this was said by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“It is our greatest duty to protect a city like Istanbul. In order to fulfill this duty, we must make Istanbul resistant to disasters, especially earthquakes. The February 6 earthquakes showed us that we can experience new strong earthquakes without completing our preparations. We must implement our plans taking this fact into account,” Erdogan said.
He added that at one time, the CHP opposed our urban development projects in the cities destroyed by the earthquake:
“As a result, 53,000 people lost their lives in one night, and the country suffered more than $100 billion in damage. Did they regret it? No. Let them not be offended, we cannot experience the same pain again.”
