Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, a senior Shiite cleric, has declared Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu as “enemies of God” (mohareb) for threatening Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Axar.az informs, citing Iran International, he stated that any regime or individual who threatens Islamic leadership is considered a mohareb and that Muslims are religiously prohibited from supporting such figures. He even called on Muslims to rise against Trump and Netanyahu, promising divine reward for such actions.
This comes after Trump claimed on Truth Social that during the recent Iran-Israel conflict, he saved Khamenei from a humiliating death, knowing his exact hiding location but choosing not to authorize a strike.
This is not the first time Iranian clerics have issued religious rulings against foreigners; Ayatollah Khomeini’s 1989 fatwa calling for the death of Salman Rushdie remains one of the most infamous examples.
Simultaneously, Kayhan newspaper—under Khamenei’s supervision—published an editorial calling for the death of U.S. and Israeli leaders, and earlier labeled IAEA chief Rafael Grossi a spy, saying he should be arrested and executed if he enters Iran, prompting international backlash.
