Due to Turkiye's growing role in the region, Russia is losing its influence in the South Caucasus.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Milan Lazović, an expert at the Russian International Affairs Council.

He noted that the escalation of Russia-Azerbaijan relations allows Turkiye to strengthen its influence in the South Caucasus:

“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan may try to mediate between Moscow and Baku to gain certain diplomatic points for himself and his country. Russia's positions in the region are weakening; Moscow needs to be more attentive to what is happening there and keep its ears open.”
