Azerbaijan’s football steady growing in last 8 years. Neftchi’s appearance in Europe league group stage as a first Azerbaijanian club, Azerbaijan national team’s victories against Turkey, Northern Ireland, Norway and etc. Gabala’s resolute victories against Apollon Limassol, Panathinaikos and etc. But where did start all of this victories?

On 23 July 2009 (anniversary of Aghdam’s occupation), Qarabagh FC had an answer game against Norway’s former champion and most famous team Rosenborg. They had a draw between them in the first game which happened in Norway. Most of the people thought that Rosenborg would pass the round in Baku. But brave players of Qarabagh made them wrong, they won Rosenborg with the goal of captain Rashad Sagygov from the free kick. That goal is the landmark of Azerbaijan football. 8 years ago Qarabagh won Rosenborg and started the development of Azerbaijan football. After that victory, Qarabagh won many world class big clubs such as Twente, Saint-Etienne, Dnipro, Young-Boys, Salzburg, Anderlecht, Monaco, Paok and etc.

For many years Qarabagh made all of us happy and pride. Qarabagh’s next rival is former Moldavian champion team Sheriff FC. Axar.az reports that, the game is on 25 July at 21:00 (GMT+4) at Tofig Bahramov national stadium. Horsemen today will fight for the Champions League play-off round with their fan group Imaret Tayfa. And we as Azerbaijani people should go to the stadium and support the club that has done many things for us and our football. We believe you! Make history Qarabagh!
