Average monthly salary increased by 7.8%

In January-April 2016, the average nominal monthly salary of hired workers in Azerbaijan increased by 7.8% on annual basis and amounted to 487.5 AZN.

State Statistical Committee reports that the highest average monthly salary was recorded in mining, financial and insurance activities, information and communication, professional, scientific and technical activities, as well as construction.

The number of employees as of May 1, 2016 amounted to 1501.6 thousand persons, of which 891.0 thousand people worked in the public, 610.6 thousand people - in the private sectors.

Of the total number of employees 22.6% are employed in education, 18.9% - trade, repair of vehicles, 12.1% - industry, 8.9% - health and social services, 7.1% - public administration, social security, 6.4% - construction, 4.7% - transport and warehousing, 3.6% - in professional, scientific and technical activities, 3.1% - agriculture, forestry and fishing, 1.8% - communications and information technology, 10.8% - in other sectors of the economy.
