The World Health Organization (WHO) has recorded the fourth wave of coronavirus in the Middle East and North Africa.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Ahmed al-Mandhari, head of the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Office.

According to him, the majority of new patients and hospitalized are unvaccinated people:

"Now we are in the fourth wave of COVID-19 in the region. The delta variant of the coronavirus is more common in this region. Tensions have risen in 15 countries in the Middle East and North Africa, from Morocco to Pakistan. In the last month, the number of infections in the region has increased by 55%, and the death rate - by 15%," he said.
