On April 3, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Alexander Beglov, the governor of the city of St. Petersburg of the Russian Federation.

Axar.az reports that during the meeting, it was stated that friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are successfully developing in various fields, and it was emphasized that Azerbaijan's cooperation with individual regions of Russia, including the city of St. Petersburg, contributes to the strengthening of relations between our countries.

During the conversation, the previous meetings between President Ilham Aliyev and Alexander Beglov were recalled with satisfaction, confidence was expressed that the visit of the governor of St. Petersburg to our country would bring fruitful results, and it was said that this visit created good opportunities for discussing the prospects of our cooperation.

It was recalled that extensive events were held in St. Petersburg in connection with the 100th anniversary of the birth of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev. The contribution of several prominent Azerbaijanis to the development of the city of St. Petersburg was noted with satisfaction.

Issues related to the expansion of trade, economic, and investment opportunities, and the strengthening of cooperation between relevant institutions in humanitarian, cultural, and educational fields were discussed at the meeting. It was stated that there is mutual interest in strengthening relations. The signing of the Road Map for the next 4 years was highlighted with satisfaction within the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on economic and Humanitarian Cooperation between Azerbaijan and the city of St. Petersburg, which has been operating for 20 years.

At the end, a commemorative gift was presented to the head of state.
