France’s Macron expected to visit Azerbaijan in late 2018

French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to visit Azerbaijan at the end of 2018, said French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian.

Axar.az reports citing Report.

Le Drian made the remarks at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku on Sunday.

He noted that France was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan’s independence.

France and Azerbaijan enjoy very close relations, the minister added.

“It has been a long time since France’s foreign minister visited Azerbaijan,” Le Drian said, stressing that his visit to Baku on the eve of the celebration of the centenary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic is a ‘political event.’
