The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian within the framework of his participation in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Caspian Countries.
Axar.az reports that according to the information provided by the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, bilateral and regional issues, as well as the current situation in the region, were discussed between the two countries during the meeting.
The contribution of high-level meetings and inter-institutional contacts to the development of relations in recent months was highly appreciated.
The parties discussed plans for the development and expansion of transport and communication corridors in the region. In this regard, the importance of speeding up work was noted within the framework of the "Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the creation of new communication links between the Eastern Zangezur economic region of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran".
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other party about the prospects of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the obstruction caused by Armenia, as well as the works carried out in the region after the anti-terrorist measures in the Karabakh region.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that Armenia's arming efforts in the region are a threat to peace and stability.
The meeting also discussed other bilateral and regional issues on the current cooperation agenda between the two countries.
