On April 17, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Kairat Sarybay.

Axar.az reports that Kairat Sarybay congratulated Azerbaijan on the transition of the chairmanship of the Asian Cooperation and Confidence Building Measures Council and emphasized that Azerbaijan, which plays an active role in multilateral diplomacy, has rich experience in this field. In this regard, he mentioned the election and activity of our country as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, its successful chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as its active role within other international organizations.

Kairat Sarybay, who also conveyed his congratulations on the occasion of the holding of COP29 in Azerbaijan, assessed it as a manifestation of the international community's respect for the role of Azerbaijan in the field of multilateral diplomacy. He also emphasized the important role of our country in the implementation of large-scale communication projects in the region.

The head of our state thanked for the congratulations. President Ilham Aliyev said that the Council on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia is an important dialogue platform for the implementation of confidence-building measures in Asia.

The head of state touched on the steps he took as the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement of Azerbaijan during the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of strengthening solidarity among member countries and establishing the Non-Aligned Movement, in this regard he emphasized the initiatives towards the establishment of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Youth Organization and the Women's Platform.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude to all member countries, including the Gazakh side, in the process of transferring the chairmanship of the Council on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia to Azerbaijan.

During the conversation, it was noted that this organization has great potential in terms of contributing to the strengthening of peace and security and the confidence-building process on the Asian continent, Azerbaijan is determined to contribute to the further establishment of the Council on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia and the development of sectoral cooperation by working together with the member states. emphasized.

At the meeting, discussions were held regarding the holding of various events of this organization within the framework of COP29, as well as consideration of green transport concept and other sectoral cooperation issues.
