The Shusha summit made Borrell mad: he targeted Orbán

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban did not represent the European Union at the informal Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (TST) held in Shusha, Azerbaijan on July 6.

Axar.az reports that this was stated in the statement of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Joseph Borrell.

He stressed that the European Union condemned the attempts of the TST to legitimize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as an observer in the organization.

It should be noted that Hungary holds the presidency of the EU Council from July 1 to December 31, 2024.

The logic of such a denial by Brussels is not entirely clear, since TST itself has never considered the European Union as a partner. Orban also participated in the TST summit as the Prime Minister of Hungary.
