The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Azerbaijan, Bik Lum.
Axar.az was informed about this by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the meeting, issues arising from cooperation with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, as well as the current situation in the region, were exchanged.
J. Bayramov noted the importance of the joint projects implemented with UNHCR in the direction of eliminating the humanitarian consequences of the past Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, improving the living conditions of our citizens who became refugees and IDPs as a result of Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan.
It was pointed out that the "Great Return" program aimed at ensuring the dignified return of our citizens to the territories freed from occupation is one of the main priorities for our country, and the other party was informed about the work done in this field.
The minister also informed the other party about the preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), and the possibilities of cooperation within the framework of COP29 were reviewed.
It was noted by the UN representative that numerous projects have been implemented for Azerbaijani IDPs over the past 30 years, and that they are ready to be supported by the organization they represent in the field of humanitarian demining in cooperation with ANAMA.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
