The European Union is working on a proposal to penalize Slovakia for violating democratic norms. This could result in cutting funds allocated to Bratislava.

Axar.az reports that "Bloomberg" published the information.

"The European Commission has prepared a decision to initiate a procedure because Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico abolished the special prosecutor's office investigating corruption cases related to EU funds," the report says.

According to the information, the process is in its initial phase and requires the approval of Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The agency recalled that approximately 80% of all state investments in Slovakia are funded by EU funds.
