French naval vessel passes through sensitive Taiwan Strait

A French naval ship passed through the Taiwan Strait, the island's defense ministry reported on Tuesday, marking the latest mission through the strategic waterway by a Western country.

Axar.az reports that, citing Reuters, the U.S. Navy, often accompanied by ships from allied nations, transits the strait approximately once a month.

China, which claims Taiwan as its own territory and conducted military exercises around the island earlier this month, also asserts that the strait belongs to it.
