Azerbaijan is showing that it is ready to become a leader in the region. Hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is a very positive initiative, especially given the current global situation.

Axar.az reports that this statement was made by Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine, in an interview.

According to him, Azerbaijan has the potential to play a global role:

"I always appreciate countries that show initiative and demonstrate regional leadership. Azerbaijan is showing that it is ready to be a leader in the region. This is entirely impressive and realistic. Just as Turkey frequently demonstrates its readiness to be a regional leader in the Black Sea, Azerbaijan is doing the same."

Podolyak believes this has a very promising outlook:

"In particular, I believe Azerbaijan has significant potential in energy traffic and energy transit, giving it the opportunity to take on a more global role today. This is definitely something to be welcomed."

The advisor also expressed confidence in the development of relations between the two countries:

"I have no doubt that bilateral relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, as well as between Ukraine and Turkey, will develop in an extremely positive direction. Why is this beneficial? It allows Ukraine to establish precise relations with the region in terms of energy, influence, and more. That’s why Azerbaijan's hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is a great initiative in the current world context. I believe that Ukraine’s representation at this event will be at the highest level because participation in such projects is extremely important for us," he added.
