The Biden administration has demanded that Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani prevent Iranian plans to launch attacks from Iraqi territory against Israel. Otherwise, it has been warned that Israel may carry out retaliatory strikes against Iraq.
Axar.az reports that this information was provided by Axios, citing its sources.
"If you don’t do this, we will not be able to prevent Israel from attacking Iraq," the U.S. administration warned the Iraqi prime minister.
According to the report, U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed possible Iranian attack plans against Israel and alerted al-Sudani that he must not allow Iran to use Iraq as a launch point for attacks on Israel. They also demanded that the Iraqi prime minister stop Shiite militants from launching attacks on Israel and U.S. forces stationed in Syria and Iraq.
Regarding the matter, the White House, the State Department, and the Iraqi embassy in Washington have declined to comment.
