In the United States, there is a strong Armenian diaspora, as well as large centers that advocate for Christian solidarity. Therefore, during the period when Armenia occupied our lands, neither the Republicans nor the Democrats recognized them as occupiers. Throughout the years, the U.S. has openly and indirectly supported the leaders of the occupying, bloodstained separatist regime in Karabakh, providing them with financial aid under the guise of humanitarian assistance, including to the occupying Armenia. Under Trump’s presidency, we ended the occupation. In this regard, his election is more favorable for us than Harris's.
Axar.az reports that these remarks were made by Qudret Hasanquliyev, the leader of the Justice, Law, and Democracy (JLD) Party and a member of parliament, when commenting on the victory of Republican Donald Trump in the U.S. elections.
The member of parliament stated that Trump is closely acquainted with Azerbaijani individuals and members of the Jewish diaspora who have friendly relations with us, which will influence his decisions:
“Trump understands that the U.S. cannot control everything in the world and must reckon with other power centers. He may not fulfill even 20% of the promises he made during the election, but at least he will try to stop the war in Ukraine. He intentionally calls himself a reckless politician, trying to resemble Putin and appear similar to him because he sees how world leaders fear Putin. As for his attitude towards Azerbaijan, he cannot force us into an unjust peace or make us return the Karabakh Armenians to the region unilaterally."
