Obstacles are being created to organize consular meetings with Azerbaijani citizens detained and imprisoned in various cities of Russia. Despite repeated requests from the Azerbaijani side, the Russian side delays the relevant responses for weeks.

Axar.az reports that this was announced by Aykhan Hajizada, Head of the Press Service Department of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"We call on the Russian side to refrain from steps and statements that artificially aggravate the situation. The Azerbaijani side has never politicized by publicizing the weeks-long delay in Russia's responses to our repeated requests to organize consular meetings with Azerbaijani citizens detained and imprisoned in various cities of Russia," the Foreign Ministry official noted.
