If you are a politician in a country with electoral democracy, your main task is to convince people that you are right and the other side is wrong.
Axar.az reports that this was written by the coordinator of the Information Citizens Alliance NGO of Armenia, Daniel Ioannisyan.
He commented on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s invitation for a debate with former presidents:
"The opponent, in your view, is "crazy," "a traitor," "a populist," or "unspeakable," and you don't care if people believe in or follow them. Your task is to change people's (including the opponent's followers) opinions. Therefore, you assess the possibility of winning a direct debate. If you can convince a certain number of people that you are right, you enter the debate. If you can't, you avoid it with all kinds of excuses."
Ioannisyan also commented on Pashinyan's statement that "since 1994, the return of Karabakh to Azerbaijan has been discussed," saying it was not true:
"P.S. I actually don’t think we negotiated about leaving Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan since 1994. In fact, it started in 1996 with the Lisbon summit."
It is important to note that in 1996, at the Lisbon summit, National Leader Heydar Aliyev succeeded in getting 53 out of 54 countries to sign a document confirming Armenia’s occupation, with only Armenia itself protesting. This is considered the first historical diplomatic victory for Baku in the Karabakh negotiations.
Later, Heydar Aliyev’s meetings with the world’s leading powers and his efforts to promote Azerbaijan's truths on the global stage gained significant momentum.
