On March 15, 2025, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer told a virtual meeting of leaders from Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada that Russia will "sooner or later" need to join ceasefire talks to end the three-year war in Ukraine.

Axar.az, citing VOA, reports that the U.S. was not part of the meeting, but President Trump previously urged Moscow to accept a ceasefire agreed upon in Saudi Arabia.

While Putin claims to support a truce in theory, he continues to set conditions, prompting Ukrainian President Zelenskyy to accuse him of stalling.

The U.S. has since expanded sanctions on Russia’s energy and financial sectors. Leaders also discussed ongoing support and security guarantees for Ukraine.
